Rolling Along
Presenting a “Disneyesque” WFR Location
As you head into the season, this is a good time to pull out your End-of-Season Evaluations from last year and start implementing your noted strategies in areas of opportunity. One area of your pre-season planning that can be immediately tackled is the overall appearance and presentation of your locations. Ensuring we have a “Disneyesque“ facility presentation throughout the course of the season is what Wheel Fun Rentals strives to achieve and we know that the overall success of a WFR location is closely tied to overall presentation.
This not only applies to the presentation of the product itself (i.e. fresh Surrey tops, functional bells, crisp dash maps, clean Surrey baskets, etc.) but also what a customer sees from afar and when walking up to the location (i.e. signage, feather flag, fleet display, pennant stringers, counter top decals, etc.) Walking up to a location as if you were a first-time customer, and taking a mental snapshot from 150’ away, 50’ away, and at the kiosk, is a good exercise to help elevate this area. Other than a fresh coat of paint, here are 5 things to think about heading into a new season.

HELMENT / PFD STORAGE & PRESENTATION
As is outlined in the Franchise Manual, Wheel Fun Central uses helmet corrals at our locations to eliminate the loose, sometimes battered, bins that the helmets are stored in. A helmet corral provides an upscale presentation, gives staff a singular place to direct customers, and allows a large surface to install Self-Service helmet signage, which is an important Risk Management element.
Similarly, Wheel Fun Central utilizes blue job boxes from Lowe’s (we chose Lowes because the boxes are blue) to store our PFDs at boat locations. These exhibit a cleaner presentation than a clothing rack with hangers, and provides multiple large surfaces for PFD sizing decals, your location URL, and to increase Night Ride awareness. The boxes are also high security, so PFDs can remain in them 24/7.
BEACH CART
Do you have a location that rents beach equipment, such as beach chairs, umbrellas, skim boards or boogie boards? Wheel Fun Central builds a “Beach Cart” with 4” caster wheels to house this type of equipment.
With a dedicated area for these rental items that can be sensitive to improper overnight storage, the “Beach Cart” extends the life of this equipment and provides a clean presentation for customers.
These smaller rental items don’t stand out as much as a large, bright Double Surrey, so keeping them together and in a cart that can be rolled out on display with your other product should also increase your transactions on these items.
WHEEL FUN RENTALS LOGO
The Wheel Fun Rentals brand is a key differentiator in our business, as we know through market research, one of the first questions our customers ask themselves is, “Is this product safe?”
In being a part of the WFR family, our logo represents a well-known, professional, and long withstanding brand that surpasses expectations vs. a single-operator with limited brand presentation and recognition.
The WFR logo is a tool at your locations to reinforce professionalism and signify this level of excellence, and the appearance of this logo goes a long way. The large, “carved redwood” logo belongs on the top of your kiosks/storage to make a strong impression.
2-WHEEL BIKE CUSTOMER STORAGE
As we have noted, storage on a 2-wheel bike is a very desirable customer amenity. Whether a stainless steel Cruiser basket, or a WFR branded tour bag, we know our customers have personal belongings that will need to be safe kept while on their ride and will factor into their purchase decision.
Additionally, since 2-wheel products are your furthest travelled rental, having a presentable and branded 2-wheel bike can drive greater awareness to your location.
FEATHER FLAGS & PENANT STRINGERS
Whether a location nested in a park within the trees, or a retail location in the concrete jungle, capturing attention and generating impulse is a large component of our business. Wheel Fun Central strives to have at least one flutter flag per location (park/landlord permitting) to generate that buzz.
Unlike businesses that may have a large storefront with a large, lit-up or spinning logo, a bright and presentable flutter flag or two goes a long way. Similar to a large WFR logo, these have an equally significant impact on the presentation of your location.
Flag strings may also be an option to brighten up your space if you have two tie-off points. Preferably, one of these tie-off points is on/near the kiosk to bring attention to our display.
