One of the most popular attractions in Waterfront Park is Salmon Street Spring, a massive play fountain that recycles up to 5,000 gallons of water per minute while visitors parade through the streams of water! The Battleship Oregon Memorial was build to honor a 1893 Navy ship that fought in many famous battles, including the Spanish – American War and in China during the Boxer Rebellion. And be sure to check out Founders Stone. It honors Portland’s founders, William Pettygrove and Asa Lovejoy, who tossed a coin to decide whether their new town would be named Boston or Portland.
Don’t miss the Japanese Historical Plaza, dedicated to the memory of those who were deported to inland camps during World War II. With so much to see, what better way to explore Waterfront Park than on a bike?
