Swan Boats, Like Ones at Rainbow Lagoon, Have Nothing to Do with Swan Lake by Steve Lowery for Long Beach Post

Downtown Long Beach’s newest attraction is finally here – Swan Pedal Boats are now available to rent at Rainbow Lagoon Park!  For just $11 an hour for adults and $6 for children 17 or younger, guests can hop into a swan pedal boat and glide across the glassy water. LED-lit Swan Boat Night Rides are also available 7 days a week beginning at Sunset.

Thought to be originally invented as a nod to Richard Wagner’s opera entitled Lohengrin, in which the main character embarks on an epic journey – pulled by a swan-led boat! Robert Paget, a fan of the opera, came up with the idea to create his own swan-led boats to be rented by local Boston residents. Now, over 140 years later, Swan Boats have spread across the country – including the newest location by Wheel Fun Rentals in Long Beach!
