Ventura’s vibrant seaside and downtown areas are located just off scenic Highway 101…sandy beaches, bike paths, a historic pier and the lively California Street Promenade all offer excellent family activities within easy pedaling distance of the Ventura Marriott. From the hotel, you can hear waves breaking on Ventura State Beach, a great place for swimming, surfing and volleyball.
Pedal through dunes with ocean views and bask in the glow of a Ventura sunset as you reach the Promenade, which is adjacent to picnic areas, playgrounds and paths. The spacious Promenade connects to Ventura’s Downtown, State Beach, historic pier and Surfer’s Point. This area is a hub of activity, and features restaurants, fountains, shopping, and landmarks such as the Mission San Buenaventura… explore them all from the breezy comfort of a Surrey, Beach Cruiser or choice of specialty bikes.
For a quieter ride, follow the bike trail north from Surfer’s Point. As you cross over the Ventura River and pass Emma Wood State Beach, coastal mountains rise on your right, with ocean views of the Channel Islands to the south-west. This gentle path winds north along peaceful, sandy beaches. Minutes from downtown Ventura, you may see graceful pelicans sail overhead and pods of dolphins frolicking in the waves!
