General FAQ
Do I need to make a reservation?
No reservation is needed! All rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, we do accept reservations for groups of 15 or more. Contact us by e-mail at wheelie@317outfitters.com or call (317) 363-9353 to make your group reservation.
What are your hours of operations?
Our rental hours vary seasonally and are weather permitting (50°F+ and dry). Please view the contact page for current hours of operation and follow our Facebook, X, and Instagram accounts for up-to-date closure information.

Is there parking nearby?

How long is each rental period?
Swan boat and kayak rentals on the canal are charged by the hour. After first hour, all rental hours are prorated in 15-minute increments.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept major credit / debit cards and cash.
Do you require a deposit?
A valid, government-issued photo ID and credit card are required; a refundable damage deposit may be requested in specific situations.
Is there an age requirement to rent?
Renters must be 18 years or older with a valid, government-issued photo ID; minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Can I bring my pet?
Pets are permitted and they do count towards the passenger limit.
Boat Rentals
Do I need to know how to swim?
Knowing how to swim is recommended, but not required.
Are life jackets provided?
Yes, life jackets are provided free of charge on-board pedal boats and are highly recommended for everyone. All kayakers of any age and swan boat passengers 12 years of age and under must wear a correctly fitted and fully buckled PFD/Lifejacket at all times during your rental.
How many people can ride in a swan boat?
Swan boats can accommodate up to 5 people with a total capacity of 1,400 lbs.
Can I bring food or drinks on the boat?
Yes, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks are allowed; please dispose of trash properly to keep the canal clean.
Are there any restrictions for boat use?
- All kayakers of any age and swan boat passengers 12 years of age and under must wear a correctly fitted and fully buckled PFD/Lifejacket at all times. Lifejackets are provided free of charge on-board pedal boats and highly recommended for everyone.
- Swan boats and kayaks must remain within the designated area of the canal at all times.
- No standing, horseplay, or jumping into the water.
- Exiting/entering your boat or kayak from anyplace other than the designated launch area is NOT permitted.
- ALCOHOLIC beverages are not permitted before or during your rental and smoking is not allowed on the swan boats or kayaks.
Safety & Weather
What happens in case of bad weather?
Rentals may be paused or canceled in the event of rain, lightning, or high winds; we do not rent during unsafe weather conditions. We do not offer refunds for weather-related cancellations, but do provide rain checks.
Is the water clean/safe?
Yes, the canal is maintained regularly and is safe for recreational boating; however, swimming is not allowed.

Do you offer guided tours?
