About us

Bde Maka Ska is the largest lake in Minneapolis. It joins the Lake of the Isles through a long channel and is the biggest lake of five that make up the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes. Surrounded by city park land and circled by bike and walking trails, it is popular for many outdoor activities like canoeing, fishing, wind surging, swimming, sailing, and of course, biking.

The Fourth of July is behind us and it’s hard to hold back the panic: HOW CAN IT BE JULY ALREADY? I’M GOING TO MISS SUMMER! IT’S ALMOST OVER!

Not to worry. There’s still plenty of time and plenty of ways to celebrate summer. Need some ideas? Here are 19 things to do in the summer of 2019.

Take a stand.

Get some balance in your life on a stand-up paddleboard. There are plenty of places to rent paddleboards in the Twin Cities, including Tally’s Dockside in White Bear Lake, Silver Creek Paddles in Roseville and Wheel Fun Rentals on Bde Maka Ska and at Como Lake. Afraid of the wobble and splash? At least you’re on calm water and not trying to climb aboard an ocean wave…
