About us

Bde Maka Ska is the largest lake in Minneapolis. It joins the Lake of the Isles through a long channel and is the biggest lake of five that make up the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes. Surrounded by city park land and circled by bike and walking trails, it is popular for many outdoor activities like canoeing, fishing, wind surging, swimming, sailing, and of course, biking.

Wheel Fun Rentals Offers Free Rentals to Nonprofit Organizations in the Twin Cities Area

For Immediate Release: June 1st, 2016

Minnesota- Wheel Fun Rentals announces it will be offering FREE rentals this summer to nonprofit organizations at four Minnesota locations! Between June 1st and August 31st, Wheel Fun Rentals is donating rental equipment, completely free of charge, to three charities every Wednesday.

Officially named “Wednesdays with Wheel Fun Rentals,” and now in its third year, this program offers local charities a free two-hour recreational rental group event. The program accommodates three nonprofit groups each Wednesday for up to 20 participants in each group. Reservations are required, and dates book up fast. Nonprofits are encouraged to make their reservation as soon as possible by emailing

“We already offer free Surreys, pedal boats, bikes, canoes, and kayak rentals to Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteers, and donate gift certificates to local schools and charity organizations,” said Rodney Knight, local Franchise Owner. “But we’d like to give back even more to the Twin Cities.”

Wheel Fun Rentals is offering this program at four Minnesota locations. Twin City non-profits who take advantage of this program will have the opportunity to choose from Surrey cycles at Minnehaha Falls, pedal boats, kayaks, and stand up paddleboards at Lake Calhoun, Surrey bikes or boats at Como Lake, and mini golf at Malt-Tees in Richfield!

And for those that can’t pedal or paddle, (non-profits serving the elderly or disabled) are welcome to enjoy a scenic boat ride around Lake Como. This one hour excursion takes guests on a comfortable cruise around the entire lake; every trip includes a knowledgeable captain. Food and drink are welcome aboard, so groups are free to pack a picnic to enjoy on this one-of-a-kind excursion on the water.

The “Wednesdays with Wheel Fun Rentals” program is the perfect opportunity for nonprofits to thank their volunteers, show appreciation to donors, or use as a group and teambuilding event for staff. Of course, kids are welcome, too! Children of any age are permitted to use rental equipment with a chaperone that is at least 18 years old. Children 12 and older may use equipment without a chaperone on board. Reminder: only three nonprofits are booked each Wednesday and reservations fill up fast. Nonprofit organizations should reserve their spot today by contacting Wheel Fun Rentals at For more information about the program, please call (612)799-8614.
