The Bend Park & Recreation District manages over 3,000 acres of parkland, both developed and undeveloped, in and around the city. This includes 84 parks and open spaces, as well as 75 miles of scenic trails. With more than 1,000 recreational programs designed for all ages and abilities, the district provides a wide range of activities for the community. In recognition of its outstanding efforts, the Bend Park & Recreation District received the prestigious National Gold Medal Award for excellence in park and recreation management in 2006.
